Your Realtor® Interview Checklist
You should choose your Realtor® with as much care as you would a doctor or lawyer. After all, for many people, buying a home is the largest financial investment they will make in a lifetime.
Friends, neighbors, or coworkers are a good source of referrals for Des Moines area Realtors®. Try to find out about their home buying or home selling process. What kind of service did they receive? Would they choose to use their Realtor® again?
Here are some questions to ask the Realtor® you are interviewing:
- Do you work as a full-time Realtor®?
- How much communication do you typically have with your clients?
- How well do you know Des Moines and its surrounding areas?
- What is your proven marketing system for selling my home?
- Have you earned any professional designations in real estate?
- Can you give me a list of past clients who have closed on their sale that I may contact?
- What is
your knowledge level in the following categories: (as applicable)
- The community/neighborhood I am specifically interested in
- Relocating new families to the area
- New construction
- Pricing
- Condos/townhomes
- Investment/income properties
- Acreages
- Mortgage financing
- Can you provide me with contacts or referrals for moving-related items?
- Will you stay in contact with me after I close on my new home? How will you do this?
In the end, your decision comes down to trust. You, as the home
buyer or seller, have a lot of important decisions to make, and
naturally will be relying on your Realtor® to assist you in making
the best decisions for your situation.
