A professional home inspector should, at a minimum, visually inspect the following components of a home:
- Exterior walls of the home
- Exterior walls of the garage
- Roof/Flashing/Gutters on both home and garage
- Roof support structure
- Foundation of the home
- The driveway
- Chimney
- Windows
- Patio and/or deck
- Exterior lot, landscaping and grading
- The basement
- Interior walls, ceilings and floors
- The attic
- Insulation quality
- The fireplace
- Visible interior and exterior plumbing
- Central air conditioning system
- Central heating system
- Visible electrical systems
- Appliances which are included in the sale
